EMI Absorbers

With increased demands for faster speeds in smaller devices, engineers are facing new and more complex EMC compliance challenges. KGS brand EMI absorbers have a strong adhesive on one side to adhere to almost any surface. Most of KGS absorbers can be cut to size with scissors or cutting knife. The absorbers are simply applied directly on the noise source for effective EMC suppression before the noise can spread or cause cross-talk. Applying EMI absorbers at the noise source also allows to reduce the amount of material used on the device (as opposed to an entire wall or panel away from the noise source). EMI absorber materials can be time- and cost-saving solutions that can be used when there is no time or budget allotted to re-spin the board.

KGS EMI absorber product range include higher frequency broadband, lower frequency broadband, narrowband (or pinpoint absorbers), and RFID/NFC/wireless charging flexible ferrite sheets. Market applications include commercial and industrial devices, medical equipment (where adhesives are allowed), military devices (non-combat), test equipment, and even within automotive vehicles (certain absorbers are automotive-rated).

These flexible absorber sheets can also serve other uses. Coupling and cross talk are major problems in applications where many components have to share extremely limited space. Adding EMI absorbers can reduce these two problems while also adhering to space restrictions. EMI Absorber sheets have also been used to increase the performance in RFID (radio frequency interference) applications by correcting the magnetic field loop for RFID reader malfunctions at 13.56 MHz. This material gathers magnetic field to gain more signals in order to eliminate the need for wires. They come in a variety of types depending on the attenuation needed and application including those devices with NFC (near field communication) technology.

EMI Absorber Sheets (Broadband Type)

Broadband absorber types cover a wide range of frequencies from the lower couple hundred MHz toward 10 GHz. Soft ferrite with epoxy base standard EMI absorber covers the low MHz range. It also works for RFID at 13.56MHz.

EMI Absorber Sheets (Narrowband Type)

Narrow band types absorbers (also known as Pinpoint types, microwave absorbers) attenuate 10-20 dB at one particular frequency. These are mainly designed for UHF (300MHz ~ 3GHz range) and SHF (3~30GHz) frequency range.

LMR-RW Series

Thin and light, EM wave absorber with narrow GHz band. Lighter than conventional rubber absorber due to paper used as the main material.

Narrowband EMI Absorber: NSSR Series

Pinpoint/narrowband absorbers with high attenuation of microwave noise problems at a specified high frequency.

EMI Ferrite Sheets / Tiles for Lower Frequency Range

Narrow band types absorbers (also known as Pinpoint types, microwave absorbers) attenuate 10-20 dB at one particular frequency. These are mainly designed for UHF (300MHz ~ 3GHz range) and SHF (3~30GHz) frequency range. Flexible ferrite (FFS and FFSX-H), Soft ferrite with epoxy (MAB) and solid Ferrite (SD tile) are all designed to be EMI absorbers that cover the low MHz range. They also work for RFID @ 13.56MHz.

FFSX-H Series

Effective reduction in RFID-to-metal interference in systems at 13.56MHz. Increased wireless charging performance at 6.78 MHz

FFS Series

Higher insertion for low-frequency band and achieves excellent performance in suppressing noise. Thin Ferrite Sheet with higher loss and more flexibility.

FFSW / SDK15 Series

Very thin and flexible ferrite tile, ideal for low frequency wireless charging. Designed specifically for wireless charging applications.

MAB-03 Series

EMI flexible noise suppression ferrite sheet covers the low MHz range.

EMI Suppression Ferrite Tiles: SD Series

Reduced thickness (0.8mm) allows the tile to be inserted between CPU and heat sink, providing EMI shielding without affecting the heat dissipation process.

Dual Functioning EMC and Thermal Management

This type contains both EMC and thermal management functions. It works to reduce EMI noise as well as act as a thermal interface material (TIM) between the heat sink and the heat source. Attenuation is achieved in the same area where heat also needs to be regulated. This unique type can save space, cost, and time.

CGE Series

Thin + Dual functional sheet for EMC and thermal management. Phase Change at 50 degrees C to secure close contact with heating elements.

EMPV4-F Series

Excellent EMI absorber performance (µ’= 13 at 10MHz). Compliable material (ASKER C 40) that conforms to uneven surfaces.

EMPV5-F Series

KGS-original formulation allows for great EMC noise suppression. Recommended frequency range from 500MHz ~ 3GHz.

RFID / NFC Absorbers

RFID types are specifically designed for RFID applications’ malfunction. These applications require as large amount of magnetic field (u’) to be gathered at 13.56 MHz and other frequencies to enhance the performance of the read range to pick up signals. These absorbers are made with ferrite material that has been specifically designed with low levels of conversion (u”).
